Claim description

I entered into a contract with XYZ Contractors LLC on November 1, 2025 for kitchen renovation services totaling $12,000. I paid a 50% deposit of $6,000 upfront. The contractor began work on November 15 but abandoned the project on December 20 without completing the scope of work. The kitchen was left in an uninhabitable state with exposed plumbing and electrical wiring. I hired another contractor to complete the work at an additional cost of $8,200 beyond the original scope. The defendant has refused all communication and has not refunded any portion of my deposit.
